This role is to focus on the cash and carry/wholesale channel.  A well-established customer base is in situ, and this will need continued management and development.  Alongside that is the need for business development to continue their successful growth.  Over recent years this business has expanded both in brand offering and profitability so a very attractive option for the future.

 

The role:

  • Account management and development of existing customer base ensuring all avenues for development are consistently explored and realised.
  • Prepare an annual commercial plan that aligns with the objectives for that channel.
  • Identifying gaps in the market to identify key customer targets in line with the overall commercial strategy for the business.
  • Prepare annual budgets around volume, price, cost and margin in detail for each account.
  • Also being close to the NPD team to fully understand the product pipeline and enhanced developed of existing products for those discussions with customers.

 

We are looking for candidates with an understanding of the cash and carry and wholesale sector in food or FMCG sector for this role with the background detailed below.  We would encourage those earlier in their commercial career to get in touch on this role as training is provided for development into a fully fledged NAM.

 

  • Commercial experience as a Junior NAM or NAM in wholesale/cash and carry with a hunger for business development and ideally examples of new customers you have delivered.
  • Previous experience in FMCG or food product categories where you have been the point of contact and display relationship building and networking skills.
  • Highly numerate, able to interpret data and manage budgets.
  • Highly personable, able to build relationships and confident to approach new contacts.
  • Good understand and experience in negotiation, able to speak fluently around the product range displaying market knowledge – training will be provided but the core skills are required.
  • Complete all marketing initiatives within agreed deadlines.
  • Use your commercial experience and knowledge to drive the appropriate trade marketing activity per account.
  • Ambitious approach and proud of the delivery across your customer base.

 

As mentioned above, this client offer flexibility as well as a good package on top of the salary and car allowance.  After an initial period spent working with colleagues to understand the business there will only be the need to be on site once a week (North West) and that can be worked around customer visits to be averaged across the month.  This is a mature environment with trust and respect at the core allowing autonomy and work life balance to operate effectively.
