This well-established FMCG manufacturer has built strong customer relationships across multiple product categories and is now seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a medium-sized team and drive performance through strategic leadership and operational excellence.

 

This is a Monday to Friday, days-only role – ideal for those wanting to move away from shift work while still making a meaningful impact in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a forward-thinking engineering strategy that supports business performance and growth.
• Lead the shift from reactive maintenance to a reliability-focused approach, embedding preventative practices and continuous improvement.
• Champion the evolution of autonomous maintenance, empowering operations teams to take ownership of first-line tasks.
• Build a high-performing team through coaching, succession planning, and skills development – including apprentices and future leaders.
• Manage engineering budgets effectively, ensuring spend aligns with performance goals and cost-efficiency.
• Drive compliance with health & safety and statutory requirements.
• Lead site-wide projects including capital investment, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes.
• Set and monitor engineering KPIs to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee the development and optimisation of the CMMS and engineering stores systems.

 

What we’re looking for:

• A proven track record of developing engineering teams – creating a culture where people feel valued and heard.
• Experience managing engineering functions within a food or FMCG environment.
• Strong process development skills – building solid foundations for measurable improvement.
• Excellent communication across engineering, operations, and supply chain.
• Decisive leadership in time-sensitive environments.
• A clear understanding of operational KPIs and how to translate them into engineering objectives.
