Are you looking for your next assignment?  You need food industry experience for this contract – they work at pace and it’s a complex environment.  There’s a great team of engineers and an experienced SMT to work alongside and that can make all the difference when you are leading the engineering function in food manufacturing.

 

A large site supplying major food retail, it’s not without its challenges.  That said, there is a lot of experience round the table and real loyalty from the customer base.  This assignment is all about the people and leadership.  You need the ability to drive, motivate, encourage and truly lead this team of engineers and there is some serious knowledge to work with!  All the areas you will be used to are included: Is the PPM schedule where it needs to be? How do we approach the ‘golden hour’ every day?  How well integrated are operations and technical’?  Who have we identified for their next stage of development in the team?  If you’re an experienced engineering manager in the industry this will all be sounding very familiar.  As with every interim assignment, where are the barriers, what needs to change immediately and what are the longer term goals?

 

As with all established businesses, processes are in place of course but there is a need to drive improvements across the function, revisit KPIs, drive efficiencies and get to the know the teams’ individual strengths and developmental needs.  Being that senior engineering presence on the site, supporting, guiding, and motivating the engineering team will make all the difference.  There’s a lot to do, as there always is in every interim assignment, but the team all have the right attitude and skills, it just needs someone to bring in more structure and organisation.
